The campground was full or almost full every night. We have 7 cute and comfortable duplex cabins, plus 1 brand new cabin, for a total of 15 hotel rooms! Kampgrounds of America affiliated parks have recently undergone significant improvements and provide a standard level of service that many campers come to expect. As sites may not be level, campers and recreational vehicle users should plan accordingly. Smith earned a bachelor's degree in history from the College of New Jersey. Slough Creek and Lamar River are considered world class fly fishing destinations. We made tent reservations for this park. Dinner reservations are required at the fine dining facilities. Showers available at Old Faithful for 4. You will have the pleasure of falling asleep to the sound of the the river. The remainder of the time is quiet.
The only campground offering water and sewer is Fishing Bridge and none of the campgrounds at Yellowstone offer electric hookups. On the property are restrooms with showers, a laundry facility, a horseshoes pit and a playground. Fairly clean, and an incredibly noisy gen set that ran all day. Nearby features are Ranger Museum and Norris Geyser Basin. Box 608 West Yellowstone, Mont. Views of mountains and slough creek are definite highlights.
Without having to make reservations, guests can visit the campgrounds and decide if the conditions are suitable for their situation and desired experience. This is a great location to explore the Park. Fishing Bridge campground always gets a bad rap: roads are rutted, sites are close, price is high are the major complaints. There is a dump station, but expect to wait your turn! Would definitely start here again! Interested individuals can find year-round accommodations, including one campground at the state park. Some threat of bears, meaning any food needed to be in a hard-sided camper or vehicle, and rangers walked through to monitor compliance regularly. Please keep in mind that most campsites in Yellowstone will not accommodate oversize units. A few pull-throughs some actual pull-outs, but most are on side of road , but most are unlevel back-ins, some with missing asphalt or just plain dirt. However we saw a number of people having problems parking their units in other pull throughs with trees between the road and the parking area. We take great pride in the cleanliness and maintenance of our bathhouses. There is much to see and do both north and south of Madison junction. One of the few Yellowstone parks that fit large rigs. See what the parks actually look like. After we paid, we got to see the tent site. There was a picnic table and fire ring.
Site A10 and A9 share a pull-thru which was quite a dance to get into. We spent three days here to be in an area of the park that we'd not seen before. Staff at checkin were friendly and helpful. We were able to make it work by backing in to it. All in all I would call the campground average at best. The surrounding ground was all dirt, fortunately for us it did not rain or it would have likely been very muddy. While rated a 10, this is relative to the type of campground that it is.
The offer is not valid with the Interagency Annual Pass. That said, it was a nice spot at the end of the loop and we had quite a bit of outdoor space with some shade. Propane grills and stoves are not usually affected by fire restrictions. Spacious sites with some trees here and there. It can still feel pretty busy from early summer to the end of September as it's a really great campground.
